We all can see room for improvement in ourselves. Some people are concerned about wrinkles. Some people are concerned about dry facial skin. Some people are concerned about small pockets of stubborn excess fat that refuse to respond to diet and exercise. At The Medispa at the Gynecology Center in Ormond Beach, FL we can help. Today, we’re talking about body sculpting with truSculpt iD and whether it may be right for you.
Will Body Sculpting Work for Me?
Body sculpting will work for you if you are within 30 pounds of your goal weight. However, it will be the most effective if you are within 10 pounds of your goal weight. Body contouring is more effective the closer you are to your goal weight because weight loss is like removing a paper towel sheet off of a roll of paper towels.
When you have a full roll of paper towels, you won’t notice the removal of a single sheet. However, when you’re down to your last few sheets, it is very apparent when you pull off a single sheet. Similarly, you may not notice a five-pound weight loss if you are still 35 pounds from your goal weight. On the other hand, when you only have 10 pounds left to lose on your weight loss journey, a five-pound weight loss is dramatic.
Am I a Good Candidate for This Body Sculpting Treatment?
While truSculpt iD is FDA-approved for safe, effective fat removal in most individuals, it is not right for everyone. For instance, as noted above, it will not produce dramatic results in individuals who are over 30 pounds away from their goal weight. It is also not appropriate for women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to become pregnant.
Will I Be a Good Candidate for This Treatment if I Want To Become Pregnant in the Future?
If you think you will want to become pregnant in the future, consider carefully whether you want to schedule a truSculpt iD session now. This treatment uses highly advanced Monopolar radiofrequency technology to simultaneously liquefy around 24% of localized subcutaneous fat cells and warm the subdermal layers of your skin.
While the liquefied fat cells are flushed out of your body and cannot be regenerated, you are still left with roughly 76% of the fat cells that you started within the treatment area. If you gain weight during pregnancy, the fat cells that remain in the targeted areas can store excess energy. Your contours will be less affected than they were before treatment, but you still may find that you need a follow-up session after your pregnancy.
What Results Can I Expect From a Body Contouring Session?
One of the primary benefits of truSculpt iD is most people only need to receive one treatment session to achieve their ideal aesthetic. However, individual results vary, so you may need two to four treatment sessions before you are satisfied with your new and improved contours. During your initial evaluation, Dr. Whitney Shoemaker will evaluate your areas of concern and advise you on the results you can realistically expect.
How Quickly Will the Results of This Treatment Become Apparent?
Typically, people can expect to see their final results just 12 weeks after their treatment. If you need two treatment sessions to sculpt your desired contours, it may take closer to seven or eight months to see your final results because sessions are usually scheduled four to six weeks apart.
How quickly your final results will become apparent depends on how efficient your lymphatic system is. Once the truSculpt iD device has used radiofrequency energy to liquefy your fat cells, your lymphatic system notices the destroyed fat cells and categorizes them as waste. In the same way it responds to other cellular waste, your lymphatic system sweeps up the liquefied fat cells, processes them, and eliminates them.
How Can I Improve the Efficiency of My Lymphatic System?
Stay Hydrated
To see your final results as quickly as possible, you must take steps to improve the efficiency of your lymphatic system. For instance, you need to ensure that you are hydrated if you want your lymphatic system to operate at maximum efficiency. Unfortunately, feeling thirsty is a lag indicator of dehydration rather than a lead indicator. The best way to tell whether you are hydrated is to check your urine and make sure it is clear or very pale.
Eat Well
Eating nutritious foods is another great way to keep your lymphatic system running smoothly. Like every other system in your body, it requires lots of fuel. Ideally, you should eat a nutritious, balanced diet that provides you with your RDA of all of your micronutrients. If you suffer from a micronutrient deficiency, speak with a registered dietician about how you can resolve the issue.
There is a good chance that you can give your body all of the micronutrients it needs without spending lots of money on nutritional supplements that are not even very bioavailable. Most of the time, you just need to eat fruits and vegetables with every meal, making sure that you are eating several different colors. The color of any given fruit or vegetable is a good indication that it is high in a different micronutrient, like oranges which are high in beta carotene.
Exercise
Getting at least 2.5 hours of moderate cardiovascular exercise weekly is another great way to rev up your lymphatic system. This is because your lymphatic system is supported by your cardiovascular system, and your cardiovascular system is supported by regular moderate exercise. However, if you are over 10 pounds from your goal weight, it is advisable to get five hours of moderate cardiovascular exercise during the week.
If you feel like you can’t fit 2.5 to five hours of weekly exercise into your schedule, that’s okay. You can halve your workout time, and perform vigorous cardiovascular exercise instead. Put another way, you would only need to perform 30 minutes of vigorous cardio five times weekly if you are trying to lose weight. If you don’t have 30 uninterrupted minutes, you can get in shorter workouts that add up to 30 minutes of intense cardio.
Relax
We know it is easier said than done, but you should do your best to relax if you want to see the final results of your treatment as quickly as possible. You may notice that you can feel your pulse increase when you are stressed, but your cardiovascular system is not the only system that is stressed when you are anxious about something. Your lymphatic system slows down significantly when you are worried.
Great ways to manage your stress and keep your lymphatic system going as quickly as possible include journaling, meditating, and practicing mindful breathing.
